Build the foundation before bad habits set in: manners, early obedience and confidence.

For the dogs other trainers turn away. Rachel works on the root of the behavior and gives your household a clear plan.

One-on-one sessions arranged around your home and routine. Ask about availability on your consultation.
Add-on: Boarding is also available, with updates while your dog stays.
Good dog training starts with understanding the dog in front of you. Meet the local trainers helping Eastern Shore families build better communication, reliable behavior and stronger relationships with their dogs.

Rachel’s path into dog training started with her own dog. After years working as a nurse, she brought home her first German Shepherd and quickly found herself navigating significant fear and confidence issues. Determined to help him, Rachel began attending seminars, working with experienced trainers and learning everything she could about canine behavior. What started as a personal challenge eventually became a career.
With her second German Shepherd, Rachel became involved in PSA (Protection Sports Association), expanding her experience with advanced obedience, engagement and working dogs. She later completed an internship with Stateline Canine in Pennsylvania, where she gained hands-on experience training dogs with a wide range of personalities, behaviors and training needs.
Today, Rachel brings that experience to every dog she works with. She has a particular interest in reactivity, fear and challenging behavior, while also helping families build reliable obedience and better communication with their dogs. Every dog is trained by Rachel herself, allowing her to build each training plan around the individual dog and the family they’re going home to.
No cookie-cutter programs. Training is built around your dog’s behavior, your goals and what you need everyday life together to look like.
Dogs don’t live in training rooms. We practice skills in real-world environments throughout the Eastern Shore so training carries into everyday life.
Photos, videos and progress updates keep you connected throughout training, followed by owner education and support to help maintain progress at home.
We work with reactivity, fear, aggression and other challenging behaviors, not just basic obedience. Every case is evaluated individually to determine the right training approach.

It’s been a couple months since Brisket has been in her 4 week training with Rachel. And I am still so impressed with how she recalls, “makes good choices”, and heels even in public. She’s a super energetic 1 year old boxer/rott/blue tick hound who doesn’t realize how big she is.
Rachel did an excellent job with our 1 year old miniature poodle. Poopy was in a house with two other dogs and 4 kids. She’s was largely doing well but needed focused work on completing house training, recall and basic manners. We had her go for 4 weeks and it worked great. Rachel was very communicative and kind.
Rachel was FABULOUS with our boy D'Artagnan, a one year old Newfoundland. He is an anxious dog and she took the time to build a trusting and confident relationship with him as she began his training.
The training that Phillie received with Rachel was amazing! She is still the happy puppy that she always was, but now she has some manners. It was hard, at first, to have her gone for so long, but going to pick her up and reviewing everything that Rachel had taught her was well worth the time away, and the money!!!

“Teaching an old dog new tricks! I can’t say enough great things about our experience with Rachel Martin at K9aholics in Maryland.”
